1) Water Sparingly – While succulents need water to survive, they thrive on a less-is-more approach. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, and then water thoroughly. Over-watering is a common mistake; it’s better to err on the side of too dry than too wet. 

2) Position for Proper Sunlight – Most succulents prefer bright, indirect light. However, their needs can vary. Pay attention to your specific species’ requirements, but in general, place them in a spot that receives ample sunlight without scorching them. If leaves start to turn white or brown, they might be getting too much sun. 

3) Prune When Necessary – Over time, some succulents might become leggy (growing tall and sparse). If this happens, don’t hesitate to prune them back to encourage bushier growth. You can often propagate the cuttings to grow new plants.

4) Be Mindful of Temperature – Succulents are hardy but do have temperature preferences. Generally, they like daytime temperatures between 70-80°F (21-27°C) and nighttime temperatures between 50-55°F (10-13°C). Avoid placing your succulents near radiators or other heat sources and protect them from frost if they’re outside.

5) Fertilize Occasionally – While succulents don’t need frequent feeding, a diluted, balanced, water-soluble fertilizer can be applied in the growing season (typically spring and summer) for an added boost.

6) Guard Against Pests – Succulents can sometimes attract pests like mealybugs or aphids. Keep an eye on your plants and use insecticidal soap or neem oil to treat any infestations early.
